Knieskern's Sedge

Knieskern's Sedge requires moderate amounts of water. It should be watered deep, at least once a week, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. It thrives in moist and wet conditions, so it can tolerate shorter periods without water, but it should not be allowed to dry out too long. During spring and summer, it should be watered more frequently, up to twice a week, however during fall and winter, water only occasionally when the top few inches of soil are dry.

Knieskern's Sedge is an attractive plant species that does best in full sun to partial shade. It prefers to receive at least 4 to 6 hours of direct sunlight each day, with morning sun being ideal. During periods of extreme heat, it can tolerate some light afternoon shade.

Knieskern's Sedge should be pruned in late winter to early spring, right before active growth begins. It should be cut back to 1-3 inches above the crown. Pruning should be done every 2-3 years to keep the plant shapely and promote thicker growth. Dead foliage should also be removed any time throughout the season.
