watering

Hybrid dogwood (Cornus 'Kn30 8' Venus) should be watered deeply and infrequently. To ensure a good soaking, water the soil slowly and thoroughly, until water starts coming out of the drainage holes and allow the soil to dry between waterings. For potted plants, do not let the soil dry out, and feel the soil 4-5 inch deep before watering. Water every 3-5 days during the summer and every 9-14 days during the winter, depending on the weather.

sunlight

Hybrid dogwood (Cornus 'Kn30 8' VENUS) prefers partial to full sun, and should receive at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight during the growing season. It’s best to provide a minimum of 4 hours of full sun in the morning. During the warmer months, the hybrid dogwood should receive filtered or afternoon shade so that its leaves can avoid burning due to intense afternoon sunlight.

pruning

Hybrid Dogwood (Cornus 'Kn30 8' VENUS) is a deciduous shrub that should be pruned in early spring, while the shrub is still dormant. Be careful not to prune too much. This species should only be lightly pruned to remove any dead, diseased or broken branches, and any branches growing too close together should be thinned out. Pruning should also be done to encourage branching, but no more than about 1/3 of existing stems should be removed. Once the desired shape is achieved additional pruning may be done to maintain the desired size and shape, but no more than 20% of shoots should be cut back each year.
