watering
Spring crocus plants should be watered when soil feels dry to the touch and after the flowers have bloomed. The soil should be kept moist but not overly wet. Water the plants regularly, about once a week when soil is dry, in order to keep the soil surface slightly moist. Water until the water begins to pool in the pot, then let it drain away completely. Make sure the pot's drainage holes are open and clear.
sunlight
The Spring crocus (Crocus vernus 'Jeanne d'Arc') needs plenty of sunlight to thrive. The ideal time of day to provide the sunlight is between 8 am and 6 pm. This plant does not do well in shady areas and should be placed in an area with plenty of direct sunlight for at least 4 to 6 hours a day. With longer hours of direct sunlight, the flower heads will open wider and more vibrantly. Too much direct sunlight can damage the flowers, so any midday sun should be filtered by a thin curtain or screened window.
pruning
Spring Crocuses should be pruned back anytime after they have finished blooming in the spring. This is usually in mid to late May. Pruning this plant is easy and only requires snipping off the flower stems all the way to the base. This will keep it looking tidy and promote new foliage growth. Spring crocus does not need extensive pruning and should only be pruned if needed to keep it healthy and looking neat.
