watering

Deutzia (Deutzia magnifica) should be watered regularly during its active growing season, which is spring through summer. During this time, make sure to water the plant deeply and consistently. The soil should be kept moist but not soggy. To check the moisture level of the soil, stick your finger in, and if it comes out dry then the plant needs water. Water the Deutzia whenever the top layer of soil (about 2-3 inches deep) is dry. Provide additional water during dry spells to help keep soil moist and reduce stress on the plant.

sunlight

Deutzia magnifica plants do best when placed in full sun or partial shade. In full sun, they will receive all day direct sun from sunrise to sunset. When grown in partial shade, they should receive at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight per day. This ensures proper flowering and growth of the plant. In areas with especially warm summers, Deutzia magnifica may need some protection from the midday sun to ensure that it does not get scorched or sunburned.

pruning

Deutzia (Deutzia magnifica) should be pruned in late winter or early spring following the last frost. Pruning should be minimal, removing only dead, damaged, or competing branches at the base of the plant. Avoid removing a large percentage of the shrub or cutting branches that will drastically alter the shape of the plant. Doing so can cause stress or damage to the shrub. After the shrub has been pruned, a light fertilizing should be done each spring to enhance the plant’s beauty.
