watering

Gaura (Gaura lindheimeri 'Pink Cloud') is a drought-tolerant plant that thrives with minimal water. Water whenever the top 1-2 inches of soil feels dry. Water deeply, saturating the root zone, until water comes out of the drainage holes. Reduce watering in fall. In winter, water only when the soil feels exceptionally dry, usually every other week.

sunlight

Gaura lindheimeri 'Pink Cloud,' commonly known as Butterfly Gaura, prefers full sun exposure for best flowering and growth performance. To achieve this, the plant should receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight or 8 to 10 hours of filtered sunshine every day. It is important to note that during the summer months, the sun's rays can be harsh and time in the direct sunlight may need to be limited to prevent damage. When planted in an area with limited access to direct sunlight, the gaura should be provided with artificial lighting to supplement any shade or cloudy days.

pruning

Gaura (Gaura lindheimeri 'Pink Cloud') should be pruned twice a year, once in late winter and again in late summer. Pruning in late winter should remove damaged, dead or diseased branches and stems, as well as any branches that are growing in a direction that is not desired. In late summer, the tips of the stems should be cut back by approximately 1-third of their original length. This will encourage the growth of denser foliage.
