Hydrangea 'Preziosa' should be watered deeply and thoroughly once a week or when the top layer of soil (about 2-3 inches) dries out. It is important to avoid over-watering, as this will cause the roots to rot. Water in the early morning so the foliage has time to dry before evening. During hot or windy weather, water more frequently, as Hydrangea 'Preziosa' may suffer from leaf scorch if left dry for too long.

Hydrangea 'Preziosa' should be planted in an area that receives at least 6 hours of direct, unfiltered sunlight each day, ideally during the morning. If it is planted in a location with partial shade, make sure that it still receives at least 4 hours of direct sunlight. During the hottest times of summer, some indirect light throughout the day can help prevent scorching of the foliage. Additionally, providing afternoon shade during the hottest days may be ideal for this species.

Hydrangea 'Preziosa' should be pruned annually in late winter or early spring. Remove any dead or damaged wood before pruning. Then prune the stems back to just above outward-facing buds. Cut just outside the bud, so the bud isn't damaged. In addition to pruning, thin out the stems so that air and light can reach the center of the shrub. Remove the woodiest stems each year and thin out stems that cross or rub against each other. Prune back any stems that interfere with the shape of the Hydrangea's bush or block the path. Then mulch the soil around the shrub to help retain moisture and discourage weeds.
