watering
Water stonecrop plants deeply and regularly in their first year of growth. During the growing season, they should be watered every 7-10 days, allowing the soil to become slightly dry between waterings. In dry or hot weather, water the plants more frequently - about every 3-6 days. Once established, stonecrop plants have good drought tolerance and only need watering every 2-3 weeks. Water thoroughly and deeply during each session, and then allow the soil to dry out slightly before the next watering.
sunlight
Crystal Pink stonecrop, a flowering perennial, does best in full sun and will thrive with 6–8 hours of direct sunlight each day. It can also tolerate partial shade but won't produce as many blooms when grown in shade. Plant it in an area that gets full sun from mid-morning to early evening, and be sure to provide shade from the hot afternoon sun. When growing this plant in an area with intense heat, it may benefit from some afternoon shade. Its blooms last best in full sun and will fade if protected completely from morning sunlight.
pruning
Pruning of Stonecrop (Hylotelephium spectabile 'Crystal Pink') should be done in late winter or early spring (February or March). Pruning should include removing dead, damaged or diseased stems and removing old foliage and flower heads to allow for growth of fresh foliage and flowers. Pruning should be done to prevent overgrown stems that have lost vigor. Light pruning, removing up to 1/3 of the plant, can also be done to control size and promote new growth.
