watering

Stonecrop (Hylotelephium telephium) is best when given regular water, but not too much. During periods of growth, it should be watered once or twice a week, depending on the weather and soil type. During hot and dry spells, more frequent watering may be required. During its dormant periods, watering should be reduced. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. In regions with high summer temperatures, shade and/or mulch may help to conserve soil moisture. If you notice wilting during the summer, try dividing the plant and/or watering more frequently.

sunlight

Stonecrop (Hylotelephium telephium) is a succulent perennial plant that does best in full sun or partial shade. It prefers bright conditions, at least 4 hours of direct sunlight each day, but can tolerate dappled shade. For optimal growth and flowering, the plant needs 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight each day so it should be grown in an area that receives plenty of sunshine. Stonecrop also benefits from afternoon shade in hotter conditions.

pruning

Stonecrop (Hylotelephium telephium) should be pruned in early spring. Dead or injured stems should be removed and the plants should be trimmed down to 1/3 of their original size. If the plant has become overgrown, it's best to prune it back hard to just a few inches from the ground. This will encourage a fuller, more compact form. In addition, it's best to periodically prune any seed heads to help control spread and promote better-looking foliage.
