Tall bearded iris (Iris 'Beverly Sills') should be watered deeply once or twice a week, in the morning if possible. Water should be applied until the soil is thoroughly moist. Allow the soil to dry between waterings so that the plant’s roots can get the oxygen they need to thrive. It is best to water at the base of the plant to avoid the foliage getting wet. In hotter climates, additional water may be needed.

Tall bearded iris (Iris 'Beverly Sills') prefers full sun, meaning it should receive at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight each day. It can still thrive in partially shaded areas, however, it is best when it receives more sunlight to help encourage blooming. Avoid planting it in overly shady areas, as this will not provide it with the right amount of sunlight that it needs for optimum growth.

Tall bearded iris should be pruned in late summer/early fall, after the flowering period has ended and the foliage has died back. First, the old, dead flower stalks should be cut to the base so that new blooms can emerge. Then, it is recommended to cut back the foliage by half to about 2 to 3 inches from the ground. This will help keep the plant neat and encourage healthy growth. Finally, any damaged foliage should be removed completely.
