Eulalia should be watered thoroughly twice a week during the warmer summer months, but no more than 3 times. During milder weather, reduce the frequency of watering to once a week. During the winter, this plant should primarily be watered only when the soil is dry to the touch, usually about once every 2 to 3 weeks. When watering, ensure that the soil gets evenly moistened, as eulalia prefer consistently moist soil. It is essential not to overwater, as these plants are susceptible to diseases caused by too much moisture. Additionally, make sure to water the plant at ground level instead of just from the top, in order to properly wet the entire root system.

Miscanthus sinensis 'Nippon' (eulalia) prefers full sun to light shade for maximum growth and performance. It will tolerate some shade but may become thin and spindly. Plant in a spot where the plant will receive 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight per day. On the other hand, avoid direct, harsh afternoon sunlight, which can stress the plant and scorch its leaves. If it is planted in too much shade, the leaves will become more yellow-green. In general, eulalia prefers mornings and early afternoons of full sun exposure.

Eulalia (Miscanthus sinensis 'Nippon') should be pruned in late winter or very early spring before the start of new growth. To encourage maximum growth, it should be pruned hard by cutting the plant back to approximately 6-12 inches from the ground. All dead, diseased, and weak stems should also be removed during this process. This plant should be pruned annually to maintain its growth form and improve the overall appearance of the plant.
