Eastern pasqueflowers, also known as prairie anemones, need to be watered once a week in spring and summer and about once every other week to once a month during fall and winter, depending on the amount of sunlight and humidity they get. It is particularly important to water only when the surface of the soil feels dry to the touch. During the growing season, it is best to provide about 1 inch of water each week. In winter, when the plant is dormant, very little water should be given, if any at all. Too much water while the plant is dormant could cause the roots to rot.

Eastern pasqueflower (Pulsatilla patens) requires full sun to thrive. It needs at least 6 hours of sunlight per day, ideally during the early morning and late afternoon, when the sun is at its most gentle and the temperature is cooler. This plant also prefers cooler temperatures, so it should not be placed in areas that get too much direct sun during the hottest parts of the day. During colder months, eastern pasqueflower can benefit from indirect sunlight or artificial light for supplementary growth and flowering.
