Coral Berry should be watered weekly as needed. Water your Coral Berry when the top of the soil is dry to the touch; if the soil is evenly moist, do not water. It is best to water the plant deeply, so water until it is dripping out of the holes in the bottom of the pot. Make sure to water the top and bottom of the soil. Allow the plant to dry out between watering. Do not overwater as this can lead to root rot.

Coral berry (Symphoricarpos doorenbosii 'Kordes' AMETHYST) is a deciduous shrub that grows best in full sun to partial shade. It needs at least 6 hours of direct, hot sun each day in order to thrive and flower well. When given adequate sunlight, coral berry will flower from late spring into midsummer, producing beautiful clusters of pink flowers which transform into tiny, bright-red berries that birds love. In areas with very hot summers, some afternoon shade may be beneficial. Too much shade can cause the plant to become leggy and reduce flower and berry production.

Coral Berry (Symphoricarpos doorenbosii 'Kordes' Amethyst) should be pruned to control its size and shape. Pruning should take place in late winter or early spring, right before new growth begins. When pruning, remove any overgrown or dead branches, and thin out any overcrowded branches to open up the canopy and encourage new growth. Avoid pruning more than 1-third of the plant in any given season. Be careful not to prune too much or too often, as this can weaken coral berry's growth habit. When done properly, pruning can provide coral berry the opportunity to look its best.
