watering

Speedwell (Veronica peduncularis) plants should be watered once every 7-10 days, depending on the surrounding weather conditions. In temperatures over 25°C (77°F), Speedwells should be watered more frequently - ideally every 5-7 days. Water deeply and slowly, making sure to fully saturate the soil. Plants should never be allowed to sit in standing water, so always make sure to empty out any excess standing water in the saucer after watering. During drier months, Speedwells should be watered a little more frequently in order to make sure the soil stays moist.

sunlight

Speedwell (Veronica peduncularis) thrives in direct sunlight for a minimum of 4-6 hours per day. The best time for it to receive sunlight is from 10am-2pm, as this is when the seedlings or young plants are able to benefit most from the sunlight. Direct sunlight can also cause damage to the plants' tender shoots and leaves so, it is better to give them moderate sun at first and gradually increase the hours if need be. Additionally, indirect or filtered sunlight may be beneficial since it helps keep the plant from getting too hot or damaged. Planting in an area that receives morning sun is an ideal way to get the right amount of sunlight while avoiding too much heat and direct sunlight.

pruning

Pruning for Speedwell (Veronica peduncularis) should be done once a year, typically during the early spring. Pruning should be done sparingly, removing only dead or unhealthy stems, as Speedwell is a delicate bush and does not need intense pruning. The shrub can be cut back to a few inches or up to 2 feet above the ground, depending on how much growth is desired. When cutting, be sure to keep the stem length in balance and to follow the natural shape of the shrub. It is also important to disinfect pruning shears between applications to prevent the spread of disease. After pruning, be sure to water and fertilize the plant.
