Speedwell need to be watered consistently and frequently. For best results, water this plant immediately upon planting and every other day until it is established. Subsequently, water when the top inch of the soil has dried and always keep the soil lightly moist at all times. Additionally, it is beneficial to mist the foliage every couple days to increase humidity. During periods of extreme heat, you may need to water every day or twice daily. It is important to avoid saturating the soil and to never let the plant sit in water.

Speedwell (Veronica spicata 'High Five') flourishes with 6-8 hours of direct sunlight per day. During the spring and summer months, Speedwell should be exposed to full sunlight for optimal growth. When days become shorter in fall, though, the amount of sunlight should be reduced to 4-6 hours daily to help the plant transition into dormancy. Monthly fertilizing is also recommended to support Speedwell's growth and to guarantee abundant blooms.

Speedwell (Veronica spicata 'High Five') should be pruned when its flowering season is coming to an end, usually around mid summer or early fall. Pruning should involve removal of dying or damaged stems, as well as any deadheading of spent flowers. If the plant is getting overgrown, you may need to prune more heavily, removing up to 1/3 of the plant. This will help keep the plant from becoming sparse or straggly and encourage new growth. Take care not to prune too much, as some varieties of Speedwell do not take well to hard pruning.
