watering

Blue Mist Hebe should be watered regularly but only when the top 2 inches of soil is dry. Increase water frequency during hot, dry periods. To avoid root rot, be sure to avoid over-watering. Excess moisture can lead to root decay. It is best to water in the morning to minimize evaporation.

sunlight

Hebe 'Blue Mist' (syn. Veronica) enjoys plenty of sunlight and does best in full sun. To promote dense foliage and flowering, be sure to place it in an area that receives at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily during the growing season. If the plant is moved to a less sunny area at any point, its buds will fall off and its foliage may become sparse. During the heat of summer it may need some relief from direct sunlight for a few hours in the afternoon. With more shade, flowering will be minimal.

pruning

Hebe Blue Mist is a fast growing shrub and should be pruned to keep it in shape and health every 1-2 years. Pruning can take place in spring after the last frosts have occurred. During this time prune back the new season's growth by 1/3 to a desired size and shape. This will encourage more bushy and more compact growth. If your Hebe Blue Mist significantly overgrows its boundaries, heavier pruning may be needed. Prune the stems back as far as possible to the base while cutting at angles to allow the water to run off. Dead wood, were you can see no flowering buds, should also be removed.
