watering

Water wall lettuce (Lactuca muralis) regularly but do not over water as this can lead to root rot. You should water the plant about once or twice a week, allowing the soil to dry out in between watering, depending on environmental conditions. In the spring and summer months you may have to water more frequently, and less in cooler months. Make sure to keep an eye on the soil and only water when the soil is dry to the touch 2-3 inches below the surface.

sunlight

Wall lettuce (Lactuca muralis) does best in direct sunlight for at least 4 hours a day. It should be situated in a spot that gets the sun first thing in the morning, and late afternoon or early evening sun is ideal. If the weather allows, it should get some afternoon sun as well. To avoid wilting, wall lettuce should not be in direct sunlight for more than 8 hours in a day.

pruning

To keep wall lettuce looking its best, it should be pruned on a regular basis. Pruning wall lettuce should be done when the plant is actively growing. For the best results, start pruning when wall lettuce is about 6-8 inches tall. During the pruning process, remove any dead or diseased leaves, as well as any overly long stems that might be creating an unkempt appearance. Pinch or lightly prune any growing tips to encourage the main stems to become bushier. Be careful not to pinch too much, as this could damage the plant. Prune every few weeks throughout the growing season. After pruning, wall lettuce should be watered well and given plenty of light to promote healthy growth.
