Henryana parthenocissus

Henryana parthenocissus, also known as Parthenocissus henryana, is a climbing vine with clinging tendrils and small leaflets. This plant prefers full sun and moist soils, but it is also tolerant of partial shade. When caring for Henryana parthenocissus, water it deeply every few days when the soils are dry during the active growth period in spring and summer. Give the plant a deep soaking, and allow the top few inches of soil to dry before watering again. During the winter months, reduce the frequency of watering, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Henryana parthenocissus can also tolerate periods of drought, but if the leaves start to brown or curl, it’s time to give the plant more water.

Henryana parthenocissus needs full sun to partial shade to thrive. In most parts of the United States, it needs at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day during the growing season in spring and summer. During the heat of the day,it should get some afternoon shade in order to prevent leaf burn. In winter, however, Henryana parthenocissus should receive full sun as it helps the plant to form strong, solid woody vines.

Parthenocissus henryana should be pruned once in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Pruning should be done lightly, aiming to maintain the natural shape and form of the plant.
