Yellow False Foxglove

Water your Yellow False Foxglove regularly during its active growing seasons (spring and fall). Aim to water your plants deeply but infrequently, providing approximately 1" of water (2.5 cm) once every 7-10 days. Make sure the soil is dry before providing water. Avoid wetting the leaves and flowers as this may promote the growth of mildews and other pests. During the summer, as the plants enter their dormancy period, reduce the amount of water you provide. If planted in the ground, allow the soil to dry out between waterings. If potted, water only when the first inch or 2 (2.5-5 cm) of the soil is dry.

The Yellow False Foxglove (Aureolaria flava) is a perennial herbaceous plant native to North America. It enjoys full to partial sunlight with 4-6 hours of direct sunlight per day, either in the morning or late afternoon. The plant prefers moist, well-drained soil and does not do well in overly wet or dry soil conditions. Additionally, optimal temperatures for growth are between 50-85 degrees Fahrenheit. Lastly, this plant species should be planted in an area that is sheltered from strong winds to prevent potential damage.

Yellow False Foxglove is best pruned in the spring, after the plant has finished flowering. Prune off the stems down to just above the leaf node, making sure to leave enough leaf on the stem to encourage new growth. Pruning the plant back to 1-third of its original height during this time will help the plant remain healthy and promote additional flowering.
