watering
The Gloriosa Lily should be watered deeply but infrequently. During the growing season, water the lily deeply about once a week, providing enough water that some runs out of the drainage holes in the bottom of the pot. During its dormancy in the winter, reduce watering to about once every 2 weeks. This will help prevent root rot. The soil should be allowed to dry slightly between waterings.
sunlight
Gloriosa lilies need a moderate amount of direct sunlight to thrive. They should be kept in an area with 4-6 hours of direct sunlight per day, preferably in the morning. They should be shielded from direct afternoon sunlight, which can be too strong in many climates. In general, if the plant is kept in an area that receives at least 4 hours of direct sunlight, it will be just fine. When grown outdoors, the Gloriosa lily will also benefit from indirect sunlight during the day.
pruning
Gloriosa lilies (Gloriosa superba 'Rothschildiana') should be pruned in the late summer after flowering. The pruning should be moderate, removing any dead or damaged stems or leaves to promote new growth. Pruning should be limited to no more than 1-third of the plant’s growth, as too much pruning can damage the plant.
