Water trumpet lilies deeply once a week during their growing season. During this period, they should be given 1 inch of water each time. Water until the soil is moist but not soggy. Allow the soil to become a bit dry between waterings. Once the trumpet lilies are done blooming, reduce the amount to just once a month.

Trumpet Lilies require full sun in the spring and summer months, with at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight per day. In the colder winter months, they may require some protection from the full sun. When planting, be sure to choose a spot that gets direct sun most of the day to ensure best results.

Trumpet lilies should be pruned at the end of their blooming season, which typically falls in May/June. During this time, simply snip off the dead blooms and allow the leaves to remain until winter. It is possible to prune in winter before new growth begins, but any leaves left over should be removed when new growth appears in spring. Generally it is recommended to leave 1 third of the foliage after the lilies bloom and die back. This will help the plant regrow and develop strong stems to support the next bloom cycle.
