Butterflies Magnolia plants should be watered every 7-10 days. Water thoroughly when you do, so that the soil is moist to a depth of 6 inches. Be careful not to overwater, as this could lead to root rot. Allow the top few inches of soil to dry slightly between waterings. If the soil feels dry to the touch, then it is time to water again. It is especially important to water your plant during hot, dry weather. Keep an eye on the soil’s moisture level, and water your plant accordingly.

The plant is best suited to areas with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day, after which some protection from late afternoon sun may be beneficial.
