Bugleweed prefers moist soil and should be watered thoroughly every 5-7 days during the hot months and every 10-14 days during the cooler months. Bugleweed (Ajuga 'Sparkler') should be pruned in late winter to early spring, shortly before new growth begins. Pruning should be limited to cutting back any overcrowded or excessively tall stems. To keep the plants compact and full, they can be pruned back by up to 1/3 of their overall height. Removing faded flower stalks is also beneficial, especially for perennial varieties.
