Allow the top layer of soil to dry between waterings. Sea Thrift can survive long periods of drought, but too much moisture can lead to root rot. It should not need to be watered during the winter months when it is dormant.

However, it can tolerate partial shade if necessary. If planted in shady areas, however, it is less likely to bloom as freely as it would in a sunny location. During the hottest summer months, it may appreciate some partial shade during the late afternoon and evening hours.
