Water the plant deeply 3-4 times a week or when the top 1-2 inches of soil is dry. Make sure that the soil is not soggy to avoid root rot. During the summer season, increase the amount of water to once daily to keep the soil consistently moist. Water the root zone directly instead of watering from the top. This kind of Dogwood does not need too much water in the winter season. So, water only when the soil is extremely dry.

It prefers morning sunlight and should be planted in an area receiving some morning sun, such as near the east side of a building or east-facing windows. Planting on the north side of a building can increase sun exposure for this species during the winter when the days are short.

If pruning to keep the desired shape, take off excess growth in moderation. Tatarian dogwoods are rather dense and pruning should be evenly distributed.
