Delphiniums need 1 inch of water a week, either from rainfall or supplemental irrigation. Water your delphiniums regularly throughout the year and avoid wetting the foliage as much as possible as wet leaves can encourage fungal diseases. For best results, water in the morning when the temperatures are cool. During hot weather, delphiniums may need to be watered more frequently. Additionally, during the summer, you may want to add a 2–3 inch layer of mulch to help keep the soil evenly moist.

Delphinium ‘Planet Light Pink’ should be planted in a location that receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day for optimal growth. This variety of delphinium prefers cooler growing conditions and can tolerate light afternoon shade as well. If planted in full sun, plants may require regular water during periods of prolonged drought to maintain their healthy appearance. Delphinium 'Planet Light Pink' is a hybrid delphinium variety that grows to about 3-4 feet in height. Pruning is an important part of maintaining this plant and ensuring optimal blooming. Start pruning in late winter or early spring, after the danger of frost or inclement weather has passed. To begin, prune off the flower heads that have been left on the plant from the previous year. This will allow for new blossoms to appear. Once the dead heads are removed, start pruning the entire delphinium bush, cutting back each stem anywhere from 3-6 inches or more. After the initial heavy pruning, prune again in the summer so the plant can stay healthy and produce new flower buds. Reduce the length of the stems, but avoid cutting too close to the base of the plant.
