watering

Hosta 'Francee' should be watered with an inch of water at least twice a week. Every 5-7 days is sufficient, or more often if necessary. When the soil feeling dry to the touch, it's time to water, but make sure the soil is slightly damp between waterings. Avoid overwatering and never allow the soil to become completely soggy.

sunlight

Hosta 'Francee' plants need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day for optimal growth. However, too much sun can be damaging; this plant species prefers indirect sunlight and can experience sunburn or wilting if exposed to too much direct sunlight. As such, it is best to provide morning and evening sun, or shaded light for the majority of the day. Additionally, Hosta 'Francee' should not be placed in direct sunlight during the height of the summer. Instead, the ideal spot is a location that gets light morning and evening sunlight, such as an east- or north-facing location.

pruning

Hosta ‘Francee’ should be pruned yearly in late spring or early summer. To prune, gently remove any discolored or damaged foliage. Then, cut back plants to just above soil level to remove any dead leaves and stems. This will help stimulate new growth and result in better-looking foliage. It is also important to remove any flowering stalks after blooming, as this will help the plant to focus energy on foliage instead of flowers.
