Coral bells should be watered frequently during the spring and summer months to ensure the soil is kept moist, but not wet or soggy. During these warmer months, water the plants about once a week or when the top 1 to 2 inches of soil is dry. Overwatering can easily lead to root rot, so it's important to not saturate the soil. In the fall and winter, coral bells will not need as much water since the plant will enter a semi-dormant state. During these months, water the plants only when the top 3 to 4 inches of soil is dry. This will allow the soil to retain adequate moisture until spring when the plant is in need of more frequent watering.

Coral bells (Heuchera 'Sparkling Burgundy') prefer full sun for 4-6 hours a day and this should be given to them in the early morning or late afternoon, avoiding the hottest part of the day. These plants are quite shade tolerant, but will bloom better when given more sun. It is best to provide morning sun with late afternoon to early evening shade for best results. Too much sun may yellow out the foliage, so be sure to monitor it closely if it's placed in a particularly sunny spot.

Coral bells (Heuchera 'Sparkling Burgundy') benefit from yearly pruning. This can be done in late winter or early spring when the plant is still dormant. Prune off any brown or dead foliage and shear the foliage back to 1/3 of its original height. This will encourage new growth and help keep coral bells looking neat and tidy. To prevent over-pruning, never remove more than 1-third of the foliage at a time. Pruning will also help establish a more compact shape and keep the coral bells flowering longer.
