watering

Hosta 'Revolution' thrives in moist, well-draining soil and can tolerate a wide range of light conditions from bright and sunny to part shade. As with all hostas, it's important to keep the soil lightly moist and give this plant a good water when the top inch or 2 of soil feels dry. It's best to water in the morning to allow the foliage to dry off before nightfall. During the spring and summer, water on a regular basis, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. In the fall, reduce the amount of water as the plant goes dormant with cooler weather. During the winter, only water very sparingly, and only when the top few inches of soil become very dry.

sunlight

Hosta 'Revolution' requires partial to full shade to thrive. It should be planted in an area that receives morning sun, or filtered sunlight through the day. The plant would appreciate a few hours of direct sunlight, but it should be protected from the hot afternoon sun, especially during the summer months. In general, the plant needs 4 to 6 hours of sunlight per day. Too much sun can cause the leaves to burn, and it can encourage fungal diseases.

pruning

Hosta 'Revolution' should be pruned in early spring, before new growth appears. Cut off any dead or damaged leaves, stems, and flower stalks at the base. Thin out congested areas to promote air circulation and light penetration for healthier foliage. If needed, cut off any bare stems at the base as well. Be careful not to disrupt any of the newly emerging shoots. Depending on the size of the plant, it may be necessary to divide overcrowded clumps in order to control the spread of the plant.
