Siberian iris

Iris 'Ruffled Velvet' should be watered twice a week. Water thoroughly each time, saturating the soil until it drains from the holes in the bottom of the pot or container to ensure that the roots absorb enough moisture. Avoid getting water on the foliage to prevent disease. Allow the soil to dry out before watering again, to avoid root rot. During the summer months, if the plant is placed in a sunny location, you may need to water more frequently. An occasional bath in tepid water can help rid the plant of any dust or dirt.

Siberian iris (Iris 'Ruffled Velvet') should receive at least 6 hours of direct, filtered sunlight per day, preferably in the morning. Avoid placing the plant in direct, hot afternoon sunlight as this can cause leaf scorching. If you do not have direct or filtered sunlight available, it can tolerate partial shade but will not flower as prolifically. For best results, provide a location with partial shade in the afternoon and full sun in the morning while avoiding extreme temperatures.

Siberian iris (Iris 'Ruffled Velvet') should be pruned once a year after the flowers have all bloomed. This should happen in early summer, usually by the end of June. Cut back each stalks that held the flowers to about half its height. Removing the faded flowers also keeps the plant looking neat. After pruning, lightly fertilize the entire plant with a balanced fertilizer. You can also remove dead foliage and an occasional stem that has become too weak or rubbery.
