watering

Little Bunny fountain grass should be watered about once every week to 10 days, depending on the soil and climate conditions. A light soaking is all that's needed. The soil should be kept relatively moist, but not soggy; it should dry out some between waterings. During hot and dry spells, additional water may be needed. When you apply water, allow it to trickle slowly and don't just sprinkle the surface, as this isn't effective. Check for moisture by sticking your finger into the soil - if it's dry to the point you can barely move it, it's time to water.

sunlight

Fountain grass (Pennisetum alopecuroides 'Little Bunny') enjoys full sun for best growth and color. For optimal results, this grass should be in a sunny spot that receives 6-8 hours of direct sunlight each day. P. alopecuroides 'Little Bunny' should not be planted in an area that receives less than 4 hours of sunlight daily, or the foliage may become sparse and weak.

pruning

Fountain grass (Pennisetum alopecuroides 'Little Bunny') should be pruned in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Prune back the fountain grass by no more than a third of its size using sharp pruning shears or hedge clippers. Pruning later in the season, when the fountain grass has gone to seed, will help promote strong regrowth in the spring. Monitor the fountain grass plant closely during the growing season and prune back any straggly or bare patches as needed. Too much pruning, however, can damage or stunt the growth of the fountain grass.
