watering

Chinese pearlbloom should be watered regularly and deeply, but not too frequently. To keep Chinese pearlbloom at its best, water when the top 1-2 inches of soil are dry, usually once every 10-14 days. During particularly hot, dry spells, water every 7-10 days. As long as the soil remains moist, these plants should not need additional fertilization.

sunlight

Chinese pearlbloom is a tropical plant species that thrives in full sun. When providing sunlight, it should receive 6-8 hours of direct sunlight each day. When grown outdoors, this plant should be positioned in an area that receives full sun in the morning and afternoon, with some shade in the afternoon. If grown indoors, it’s best to place the plant near a south- or east-facing window, which is optimal for maximum sunlight exposure.

pruning

Chinese pearlbloom should be pruned in late winter or early spring, before new growth occurs. Prune back the shoots after they have reached about 2 thirds of their maximum height. Shoots that are too tall and close together should be pruned, or thinned, to encourage air circulation. Remove dead or damaged branches, and help maintain the desired shape of the shrub, especially if it has been trained or otherwise shaped. Adequate light penetration and air circulation is important for healthy plants, most of which can tolerate and benefit from regular pruning.
