Water your wood sage (Salvia sylvestris 'Rose Queen') regularly and deeply. During the growing season (spring to fall), water your plant deeply (about 1 inch of water) 2-3 times per week. Make sure the soil surrounding the plant is kept consistently moist but not soggy. Water in the morning and allow the plant's foliage to dry out before nightfall to help prevent disease. In the winter (November to March) when your plant is dormant, reduce watering significantly. Give your wood sage only about 1/2 inch of water every 2 to 3 weeks, and allow the soil to completely dry out before watering again.

Wood sage prefers full sun to partial shade. An ideal spot is 1 that receives at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight each day (late morning to mid-afternoon is best). The plant does not need continuous direct sunlight, though short breaks will not hurt it. Direct sun gives the plant more energy for growth and helps to keep it blooming for longer. Too much sun can, however, dry out the soil too quickly and cause the leaves to burn, so it is important to ensure that the plant is getting enough, but not too much, sunlight.

Wood sage (Salvia sylvestris 'Rose Queen') should be pruned in late spring or early summer, just after flowering. Pruning should be light and should mainly focus on thinning out any overly crowded areas of the plant. Remove any damaged or diseased wood and then snip off the tips of the branches to maintain the desired shape and size. Avoid cutting off the flowering stems as this will reduce their flowering potential.
