watering

Stokes Aster should be watered once a week, allowing the soil to dry out in between waterings. Water thoroughly until water runs out of the bottom of the pot, but make sure it's not standing in water. During the spring and summer months, they will need a bit more water due to the warmer temperatures, so monitor the soil for dryness more closely during these months. In the winter months, you can reduce the frequency of watering.

sunlight

Stokes Aster, also known as Stokesia laevis 'Silver Moon', requires full sun exposure in order to thrive. This plant species should be provided with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight every day. The best time of day for Stokes Aster to receive sunlight is in the morning, from 9am until 12pm or, if possible, slightly earlier. Additionally, providing the Stokes Aster with some shade from the mid-afternoon sun can help prevent sunburn or leaf scorch.

pruning

Stokes Aster can be pruned in late winter or early spring, before new growth begins. It is best to remove spent blooms after flowering and any straggly stems or stems that have grown too tall (up to a third of the plant height). Shear back the remaining stems by 1-third to 1-half of the plant's height. This will stimulate the plant to produce more and fuller blooms. Stokes Aster will not require pruning every year, but it may need occasional trimming as it grows to maintain a bushier form.
