Koreanspice viburnum

Koreanspice Viburnum (Viburnum carlesii 'SMVCB' SPICE BABY) should be watered when the soil is dry to the touch, approximately every 7-14 days. Water deeply at the base of the plant, until moisture can be felt several inches into the soil. During periods of extreme heat, the frequency of watering may need to be increased. Avoid overwatering and allow the top inch or 2 of soil to dry before watering again. Overwatering or leaving the soil too wet for too long can lead to root rot and other problems.

Koreanspice viburnum (Viburnum carlesii 'SMVCB' SPICE BABY) is a flowering ornamental shrub that typically does best in full sun, meaning it requires at least 6 hours of direct sunlight every day in order to reach its full potential. In areas with very hot climates, it may benefit from some afternoon shade. This plant also does well in partial sun, meaning it’s perfectly fine receiving 3-6 hours of direct sunlight during the peak of the day. Although it can survive in partial shade, it will produce fewer flowers and less vibrant foliage.

Koreanspice viburnum should be pruned in late winter or early spring. Pruning should be light and selective, focusing on removing dead, diseased, or overgrown branches. To encourage maximum flowering, it is best to prune only about 1/3 of the overall volume of the shrub each year. This should be done in the form of thinning out small branches and shoots near the base of the shrub. Pruning also helps the shrub to maintain a desired form or shape.
