Sunset rock rose

Sunset Rock Rose requires regular watering during the warmer months (April-September). Water thoroughly from the base, giving the soil a good soak. Allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering during the cooler months and only water when the soil is dry. Be sure to check your plant for signs of stress, such as wilting leaves, before watering. Overwatering can lead to root rot.

Sunset rock rose (Cistus x pulverulentus 'Sunset') needs at least 6 hours of full sun each day to thrive. The best time of day for sunlight for this plant is between 9-11am in the morning and 6-8pm in the evening, when the intensity of the sunlight is not overwhelming. During the hottest hours of the day (noon to 4pm) it is important to provide some shade for the plant.

For Sunset rock rose, it is suggested to prune annually in the early spring, just before new growth begins. This will keep it tidy and promote fresh, vibrant growth. Begin pruning by removing any dead or diseased stems and cutting back any branches that are not flowering. Cut the plant back to approximately 6-10 inches tall. Keep in mind that this species of rock rose blooms on old wood, so it's important not to cut too much. Pruning should be kept to a minimum, as more pruning leads to become less flowering and more foliage. If desired, thin out any overly thick branches or stems to promote air circulation and prevent the possibility of fungal problems.
