Lapland Reedgrass

Lapland reedgrass should be watered regularly but not overly so. It prefers consistently moist soil, so water every 3-4 days in the summer and 2-3 times a week in the winter. Before watering, check the top 2-3 inches of soil; if it is dry then it's time to water. When watering, apply enough water to evenly moisten the soil but take care not to overwater. Watering should be done in the early morning or evening to prevent water loss from evaporating. With regular watering, Lapland Reedgrass should have a healthy green color and stay vibrant and healthy.

Lapland Reedgrass flourishes in brightly lit environments and requires a minimum of 6 hours of direct sunlight per day for optimal growth and development. It prefers full sun, but can tolerate lighter shade conditions if they are not too deep. During the peak of summer months, Lapland Reedgrass should have 8-10 hours of direct sunlight to maintain its vigorous growth. During winter and fall months, when the days are shorter, it needs 5 to 6 hours of sunlight daily. It's highly recommended to keep Lapland Reedgrass in an area that gets ample sunlight throughout the year for best results.

Lapland reedgrass (Calamagrostis lapponica) should be pruned in early spring before new growth begins. Pruning should remove dead or weak stems at ground level to maintain a dense, healthy plant. Dwarf forms of this species should be lightly cut every year to control size; taller forms should be pruned back hard every few years. Cut away any dead or dying leaves/stems and any branches that look weak or diseased. This will help ensure a healthy, vigorous plant.
