Terrestrial Water Starwort

When watering Terrestrial Water Starwort, you should water it lightly, but regularly, at least once every 5-7 days. Depending on the soil, it can also benefit from slightly more frequent watering and misting. Since this species prefers wet conditions and soils, you should be sure to maintain a continuous level of moisture in the soil during its growing season. In general, it is best to water the Terrestrial Water Starwort in the morning, allowing the soil and foliage to dry by nightfall. If over-watered, the plant can easily succumb to root rot.

Terrestrial Water Starwort (Callitriche terrestris) is a small aquatic plant that thrives in moist, marshy environments and shallow waters. The plant prefers full sunlight, and ideally, direct sunlight all day long. When grown in shallow pools, the plant should receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day to ensure healthy growth and proper photosynthesis. When grown in deeper waters, however, the plant may need less direct sunlight and may do better with indirect light. This species can also tolerate some shade. To maintain its blue-green colouration, direct sunlight for at least 4 hours is recommended.

Terrestrial Water Starwort (Callitriche terrestris) should be pruned in spring and summer as new growth appears. Prune your plant back to about an inch above the water line. Doing this will encourage new and healthy growth and help keep the shape of the plant. It is beneficial to leave some leggy stems once in a while during pruning, to help with flowering and overall health of the plant.
