watering
Corydalis lutea should be watered when the soil has become slightly dry. Generally, this species likes soil that is on the dry side, so it is important not to overwater it. Water the coffee plant once every 3 or 4 days, providing enough water to wet the soil but not too much that it becomes saturated. The plant should never stand in water, so make sure to empty the saucer or tray after watering and check for drainage holes. In the summer, or in warmer climates, it may need to be watered more often. During cooler months, watering can be reduced.
sunlight
Corydalis lutea grows best in part shade to full sun. It prefers bright light but not direct sunlight. It should receive several hours of direct sunlight each day, ideally in the early morning or late afternoon. It is recommended to provide at least 4 to 6 hours of sun each day for optimal growth. In regions with extreme heat or intense light, it’s best to find a spot where the plant will get some shade during the hottest parts of the day. It may also be beneficial to provide some form of light protection during summer months to prevent the leaves and foliage from getting scorched.
pruning
Corydalis lutea is a perennial plant which should be pruned annually in order to maintain a neat, healthy growth habit. Prune in late winter or early spring when the plant is dormant to remove any dead, diseased, or broken stems. Stems which have been weakened due to drought or insect damage can also be removed. Pruning should be done conservatively, removing no more than a third of the stems at a time. This will ensure that the plant remains full and healthy and that no more stems are removed than necessary.
