Cranesbill (Geranium 'Gerwat' ROZANNE) should be watered frequently but lightly. During the growing season, water the plant deeply and thoroughly once every 7-10 days, or more often in times of extreme heat. Make sure the soil is moist but not soggy. In the cooler months, water less often and allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. It is important to water at the soil level and not overhead, in order to avoid a buildup of mildew or fungus. Make sure that the Cranesbill is in a spot that will receive at least 6 hours of sunlight per day and ensure the soil has good drainage.

For cranesbill, it requires full sun to partial shade (4-6 hours) of direct sunlight per day. In cooler climates they will tolerate more sun in the morning and afternoon, while in warmer climates they will appreciate the protection of afternoon shade. They will thrive when planted in an area that receives bright light throughout the day. When planted in too much shade, the growth of these plants will be significantly stunted.

Cranesbill (Geranium 'Gerwat' ROZANNE) should be pruned just once a year in late winter to early spring. In order to encourage new growth and promote maximum flowering ability, prune back any dead or diseased stems, as well as any old and woody stems, to within about 3 to 4 inches from the soil line. While doing this, it is important to make sure to cut at an angle to make sure all of the remaining growth areas are exposed to direct sunlight. Additionally, pruning back around 1 third of the plant helps to keep it from becoming ‘leggy’ and promotes more growth and flowers in the summer. After pruning, apply a balanced organic fertilizer to encourage more flowering growth.
