watering

The golden-rayed lily needs to be kept fairly moist while it is actively growing. Water the plant deeply but infrequently to a depth of 6 to 12 inches. Water the lily when the top 2 inches of soil feel dry. In general, it is best to slowly water the plant until the soil is saturated and then wait until the top of the soil feels dry before watering again. During the warmest months of summer, the lily may need to be watered 2 to 3 times a week.

sunlight

Golden-rayed lilies should be grown in an area that receives full sun (at least 6 hours daily) in the morning and afternoon. During the peak growing season this should ideally be supplemented with midday shade. During colder months, it may be beneficial to add an additional 2 hours of morning sun during late spring to early fall, to ensure that the species thrives and flower production is maximized.

pruning

Pruning golden-rayed lily should be done after it has finished blooming. Start by removing any dead, damaged or diseased stems to prevent spreading any unforeseen infections to the other stems. Be sure to use sharp pruning shears and avoid tearing or ripping out the stems. When pruning, take off only 1/3 of the width and height of the stem, and use the shortest pruning shears that still safely reach. Once all damaged and dead stems are removed, you can then shape the plant to achieve a desired size or shape. Pruning golden-rayed lilies after blooming and before winter helps promote healthy growth the following year.
