Annual honesty (Lunaria annua) requires regular watering with plenty of water, but not too much that could cause rot. Water deeply and evenly once a week during the growing season. If grown in containers, plants may require more frequent watering depending on container size and soil type. During particularly dry periods, water twice a week or more. Plants should not be allowed to dry out between waterings, as this will cause them to become stunted. Once the flowers have died off, reduce watering frequency as the plant is entering its dormancy period. Ensure that once the soil around it is completely dry before adding any more water.

Annual Honesty (Lunaria annua) prefers to grow in full sun or partial shade, in locations with well-drained soil. In summer, the plant will need approximately 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. During spring and autumn, an hour or 2 of morning sun would be sufficient. However, in winter, the plant should be sheltered from direct sunlight, as it can be damaged by cold and exposure to strong light.

Pruning is an important part of maintaining annual honesty (Lunaria annua). Pruning should be done at the beginning of spring, just as the plant is beginning to grow. With sharp, sterilized shears, remove old, dead or diseased foliage by cutting it down to the ground. New foliage will quickly emerge in place of the old. To rejuvenate the plant, cut the basal stems down close to the ground after flowering has ended. The new stems will be thicker and of better quality than the old stems. Annually honesty can also be pruned back again in mid-summer when the plant’s growth slows. This will encourage the plant to keep flowering during the summer season.
