Japanese Pachysandra (Pachysandra terminalis 'Green Sheen') is an evergreen perennial ground cover. It forms a low-growing, dense mat of glossy, dark green leaves that are leathery-textured. This fast-growing and fuss-free plant grows best in moist, shady sites with acidic soil, and it can tolerate drought and colder temperatures down to -20 F. Small white flowers with a delicate scent appear in late spring. Japanese Pachysandra is an excellent choice for sunny or shady spots, either as a ground cover, a shady border, or for use as an edging along pathways.

If the top 2 to 3 inches of soil feels dry, give the plant a thorough soak.
