watering
Watering for baby's tears should be done on a regular basis. During the growing season, the plants should be watered thoroughly every 7-10 days, allowing the soil to dry out slightly in-between waterings. During the winter months, baby's tears should only be watered sparingly; they need much less water during this time. Aim to keep the soil lightly moist and only add more water if the soil feels dry to the touch.
sunlight
Baby’s tears plants need at least 4-5 hours of full sun to thrive. However, during summer months it is better to provide protection from the sun by placing it in a part shade setting, or by providing shade with a shade cloth. This species of plant prefers direct sun in the morning and light shade in the afternoon. If you live in a hot region, it is even more important to provide these plants with a little shade during the hottest parts of the day.
pruning
Baby's tears (Soleirolia soleirolii) should be pruned 2 to 3 times per year, preferably in the spring and fall. In the spring, prune off any dead or diseased foliage, or any that has become lanky or long, and lightly trim back the outermost growth tips to encourage denser growth. In the autumn, trim lightly to encourage bushiness and to keep the plant neat and tidy. Pruning should only be carried out as needed, but the more often it is done the bushier the plant will remain over time.
Season
The best time to start harvesting the fruits from Soleirolia soleirolii is in July and August.
