watering

Water spiked speedwell (Veronica spicata 'Glory' ROYAL CANDLES) once a week, making sure to keep the soil moist but not soggy. If the weather is very hot, then water more often. The key is to ensure that the soil has had the chance to dry out between watering. To check for moisture, use your finger to probe the soil at a depth of 2-3 inches. If it's still wet, wait another day or 2 before watering.

sunlight

Spiked Speedwell (Veronica Spicata 'Glory' ROYAL CANDLES) enjoys full sun and prefers 6-8 hours of direct sunlight per day. In general, early morning sunlight is best for this plant as it helps to dry morning dew off the foliage and encourages healthy growth. It is possible to grow Spiked Speedwell in part sun, but it will require more frequent irrigation and may not achieve as much height as when grown in full sun.

pruning

Spiked speedwell (Veronica spicata 'Glory' ROYAL CANDLES) should be lightly pruned in late spring to early summer to maintain a neat and tidy habit and to encourage bushier growth. Remove dead or damaged stems first and then selectively prune leggy or excess stems to the desired shape of the plant. Some light shaping and thinning out of overcrowded stems should also be done at this time if needed. Pruning should be kept to a moderate level, as removing too many branches can weaken the plant.
