watering
Dusty Zenobia (Zenobia pulverulenta 'Blue Sky') prefers evenly moist soil; however, it doesn't like sitting in water. Be sure to water your plant regularly, making sure to not let the soil dry out completely. During the growing season, water once or twice a week. If temperatures become very hot and steps are taken to help protect the plant from sun scorch, more regular watering may become necessary. During the cooler months, water about once every 2 weeks. If you are in doubt, stick your finger in the soil to check the moisture level. If the soil feels dry, it's time to give your plant a good soak. Make sure you don’t leave any standing water in the saucer – this can cause root rot.
sunlight
Dusty zenobia (Zenobia pulverulenta 'Blue Sky') prefers bright, indirect sunlight of at least 4 hours a day to grow and flower best. When grown outdoors, it should receive at least 4 hours of unfiltered sunlight every day in order to stimulate healthy flowering and promote deep green foliage. If the sunlight is too intense or too direct, the dusty zenobia’s leaves will become scorched and discoloured. When grown indoors, it should be placed near a south-facing window that receives the most direct sunlight, or in a location that receives several hours of bright, indirect sunlight per day. Dusty zenobia is fairly tolerant of low light levels, but it requires at least 4 hours of bright sunlight for maximum health and growth.
pruning
Dusty Zenobia should be pruned twice a year, once in the spring and again in the summer. In the spring, after the plant has flowered, cut back the spent blooms to promote branching and encourage new growth. In the summer, prune back the zenobia to half its size by selectively removing stems. This will encourage bushier, thicker growth. Always make sure to use sharp, sterilized shears for pruning and avoid cutting away more than a third of the plant's current growth.
