watering

Diascia should be watered regularly, with an inch of water each week to keep the soil evenly moist. Diascia prefers morning watering, so you can avoid mold and fungal diseases that can be caused by watering in the evening. During the warmer months, you may need to water more frequently to ensure the soil does not dry out. During the cooler months, water less often, and in quantities that allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings.

sunlight

Diascia x hybrida, is a plant species that needs and prefers full sunlight for optimal growth, flowering and foliage. This species should be placed in direct sunlight for about 6-7 hours a day, ideally in the morning or late afternoon when the sun is not too hot. If placed in partially shaded areas, the plant may not bloom or its foliage may become a bit yellow. Additionally, make sure the Diascia x hybrida is placed in a space where it can receive light from all sides so that it does not become 1-sided and have an unnatural shape.

pruning

Diascia x hybrida should be pruned lightly and regularly, preferably in late summer after the flowering period has ended. Pruning can be done to remove dead or damaged stems, or to reduce the overall size of the plant. Cut back the stems to about 3-4 inches from the base of the plant for maximum regrowth. If your goal is to rejuvenate a congested plant, then lightly prune the plant from the top and sides, cutting back stems to within 2-3 inches of the main branches. After pruning, fertilize the plant with a balanced soluble fertilizer, and water deeply and regularly until it re-establishes active growth.
