watering
Drummond's Rockcress should be watered moderately with about 1/2 inch of water once a week during the summer months. Once established, this plant can be watered less often, but be sure to give it a good soaking when you do water. Water in the morning if possible to allow the foliage to dry before evening. In the winter months, water should be minimized and supplied only when the soil is dry.
sunlight
Drummond's Rockcress (Boechera stricta) requires full sun to grow and flower optimally. Depending on your climate, 5-9 hours of direct sun is ideal for this species, although it can tolerate some shade. During the summer months, this plant is best suited for full morning sunlight, and some afternoon afternoon shade, as it is more tolerant of temperature variations than other plant species. In mild climates, this species can handle full sun, though afternoon shade may still be beneficial during periods of excessive heat. During the winter months, be sure to provide at least 5-6 hours of healthy sunlight. Also, Drummond's Rockcress requires about 2 inches of water per week.
pruning
Drummond's rockcress (Boechera stricta) should be lightly pruned every early spring. Pruning should only involve removing stems that appear overly tall or spindly, as well as any yellow or brown foliage. Pruning should be done before the plant flowers, since this may encourage further growth and flowers. It is not necessary to prune heavily as the plant will naturally maintain its shape. If some of the stems have become sprawling, the stem can be gently tied back to the neighboring stems. If pruning late in the season, try to avoid removing any flower stems.
