watering

Hybrid tea roses (Rosa 'Dolly Parton') should be watered well to keep the soil moist but not soggy. Generally, these roses need about 1” (2.54 cm) of water per week, either from rainfall or irrigation, during their active growth period. Watering deeply and less frequently is preferred, as shallow watering can cause shallow root growth. Water at the base of the plants, avoiding wetting the leaves to avoid disease. Watering should be done in the early morning, allowing the soil and foliage to dry before evening. Once your hybrid tea roses have become established in their planting area, any supplemental water can be reduced, though not eliminated. Too little water can cause rose flowers to be smaller and lower in quality.

sunlight

Hybrid tea rose (Rosa 'Dolly Parton') requires full sun for best growth (6 to 8 hours per day). They should be planted in a sunny location with areas of afternoon shade to protect them from the hot midday sun. They also prefer well-drained soil, and a regular watering schedule. To ensure flowering, they should be fertilized once a month during the growing season.

pruning

Hybrid tea rose (Rosa 'Dolly Parton') should be pruned in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Pruning should be light, removing no more than 1-third of the stem and foliage. Start pruning by removing dead, diseased, or damaged canes. Next, shorten some of the longest canes and remove any weak, scraggly canes or suckers. Thin remaining canes to create an open, vase-like shape and remove any leaves from the lower portion of the plant. Finally, trim off the tips of the remaining canes to shape the plant and allow for increased air circulation.
