It should not be exposed to direct sun for more than 2 hours per day, as this can cause discolouration and even leaf burn. The optimal amount of sunlight for this plant species is 3-4 hours of indirect sunlight per day, which can be increased to 5-6 hours of direct sunlight during mid-summer.

When it comes to pruning snowrose (Serissa japonica 'Variegata'), it’s important to keep it in check without being too heavy handed. For this plant, it’s best to prune during mid-spring. This is when the new growth of the season is beginning but prior to when the plant flowers. When it comes to how much to prune, aim to remove about 1/5 of the plant’s volume in any 1 pruning session.
