The soil should be allowed to dry just slightly between waterings, and the plant should be watered deeply to reach the roots. Avoid getting the foliage wet when watering. During hot weather, water more frequently, up to 2-3 times per week. In winter, water only when the soil is dry to the touch. This species is native to moist woodlands so does not tolerate dry soils.
